
Dr Kate Pitt
Veterinarian
Dr Kate is our experienced Veterinarian with the special interest in dentistry. Kate graduated from the University of Queensland in 2006 with a Bachelor in Applied Science (Vet Tech), and then a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Hons) in 2011. Her love for anything teeth related makes her a unicorn in the vet world, and that is why she decided what’s another few years of studying after so many.
In 2018, Kate gained Membership to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in the field of Small Animal Dentistry and Oral Surgery. She has been at Bonton Ave Vets since 2015.
Kate’s two Border Collies (Fysher & Hunta) and German Shepherd (Eccles) that keep her constantly on the go. She loves travelling and getting lost around the world.

Dr Yew-Li Fang
Veterinarian
Dr Yew-Li graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours IIA), and she worked in a mixed practice in Central Queensland for several years.
She returned to SE Qld in 2000 to focus on small animal practice, working at several practices located in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Moreton Bay.
Yew-Li enjoys working in a veterinary general practice, especially helping clients to achieve the best outcomes for their pets’ health and to further strengthen the extraordinary bond between people and their pets. She has interests in animal behaviour, preventive health care and nutrition, as well as caring for Australian native wildlife.
Outside of work, Yew-Li is an avid reader, a keen gardener, and the owner of a mischievous Kelpie.

Dr Emily Mabbott
Veterinarian
Dr. Emily is one of our experienced veterinarians. Growing up, she always knew she wanted to work with animals and went on to qualify from the University of Edinburgh in 2005. Having had her fill of the infamous British weather, she headed to Hong Kong, where she gained valuable experience at both a busy small animal hospital and the Jockey Club. After a rather prolonged holiday travelling Australia, Emily liked it so much that she decided to stay!
She initially worked in a busy equine and small animal practice in the western suburbs before moving to Moreton Bay. Emily enjoys all aspects of general practice and has a particular soft spot for our geriatric patients.
Outside of work, she keeps busy at home with her two boys and her rather naughty American Staffy, Nitro.

Dr Julia Chou
Veterinarian
Dr. Julia Chou was born in Taiwan and moved to Australia for her high school studies. She has always been passionate about animals and aspired to become a veterinarian since she was 7 years old. After completing her Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Honours in 2015 at the University of Queensland, she has worked as a general practice small animal veterinarian in the Moreton Bay Region.
Julia now lives with her fiancé, two children, and cheeky cats, Calamari and Chips. Outside of work, she enjoys drawing animals and pet portraits, spending time with her family, and playing board games together.
She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery, with special interests in ophthalmology for both cats and dogs, soft tissue surgery, acupuncture, and caring for geriatric patients. Julia is also able to offer acupuncture as a complementary therapy and finds it enormously rewarding to help patients feel more comfortable and relaxed.

Dr Michael Valentine
Veterinarian
Dr Michael graduated from the University of Queensland in 2011. After graduating, Michael relocated to Innisfail in Far North Queensland where he worked in small animal practice.
He then returned to Brisbane and the Lockyer Valley and took up a position with the University of Queensland before moving to New Zealand. For the past 10 years Michael has been working in New Zealand in various clinical and non-clinical veterinary roles.
Michael enjoys all aspects of general practice but with a special interest in anaesthetics and internal medicine.
When he is not at work Michael likes to travel. He can usually be found exploring nature with his partner or planning his next overseas adventure.

Dr Miranda Evans
Veterinarian
Dr Miranda graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) in 2021.
Dr Miranda always had a keen interest in animals, and she has a passion for helping both people and their beloved pets. Because of this, becoming a vet was an easy choice. Dr Miranda is a strong advocate for preventative health and helping pets and their people live fulfilling lives together.
When she is not at work, she can be found exploring various national parks or playing with her cheeky Belgian Shepherd, Mako.

Dr Ben Clarke
Veterinarian
Dr Ben Clarke is our travelling surgeon. Dr Ben does all our orthopaedic surgeries and complicated soft tissue surgeries. He graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Science in 1996, an Honours degree in Parasitology in 1997, and a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2001. Dr Ben has always had a special interest in surgery. In 2005 he began work as a surgical resident in soft tissue and oncologic surgery, then in 2008 he commenced a 3-year, European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) residency program
He became a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (MANZCVS) in Small Animal Surgery by examination in 2011, demonstrating advanced knowledge in small animal surgery.
Returning to the Sunshine Coast in 2011 with his cat and young daughter, Dr Ben now offers Referral surgical service to general practices in South East Queensland, including Bonton Avenue Veterinary Surgery.
When not in surgery, you will find Dr Ben spending time with his daughter, camping, surfing, and enjoying the great outdoors.

Jana
Practice Manager
Jana is our Practice Manager.
She is a qualified Veterinary Technician, but she also holds a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, Certificate IV in Quarantine, Diploma in Agriculture & Animal Science, and Diploma in Economics, Business & Finance.
Jana joined Bonton Avenue Veterinary Surgery in 2001 and has been here for over 20 years! Jana previously worked with Australian Quarantine Inspection Services and multiple Vet surgeries in Europe, Victoria, and Queensland.
She is a proud Deception Bay resident. Jana loves D-Bay waterfront and loves seeing clients and local resident at the waterfront on the evening walks, or simply having a chat at the local shopping centre. Jana looks after all Vets and nurses, organises daily life and ensures everything runs smoothly.
If you haven’t met Jana in the past 20 years, please come and introduce yourself, she loves chatting to our clients.

Tyla
Senior Veterinary Nurse
Tyla is our full-time, experienced and fully qualified Senior Nurse.
She completed her studies through Deception Bay Vets – and never left!
Caring for animals has always come naturally to Tyla. She has a special interest in animal behaviour and is passionate about creating a calm, stress-free environment for her patients.
When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll often find her spending time with friends, family, and just about anyone’s animals. If you have a Staffordshire, she will always be there to greet you!
At home, she has two mischievous cats, Topaz and Citrine, who keep her on her toes.

Lily
Veterinary Nurse
Hi everyone! My name is Lily, and I’m one of the veterinary nurses here at Deception Bay Veterinary Surgery. I’ve been working in veterinary nursing for the past five years, and I absolutely love being able to care for animals and support their owners every day.
At home, I’m a proud pet mum to two cats, George and Mimi (also known as Tortellini), along with my four ducks – Clark, Franklin, Dumpling, and Pebbles – so caring for animals definitely doesn’t stop when I leave the clinic!
When I’m not at work or studying, you’ll usually find me reading a good book, spending time with family and friends, going to the gym, travelling, or enjoying a bit of cooking and baking.
If you see me around the clinic, please don’t hesitate to come and say hello – I’m always happy to chat and give your fur babies plenty of cuddle.

Holly
Veterinary Nurse
Holly is one of our experienced and fully qualified Veterinary Nurses. Her passion for animals led her to pursue a career in veterinary nursing, where she loves caring for patients and supporting their owners every day. You’ll often catch her stealing a cuddle from the patients while they’re in hospital!
Outside of work, Holly enjoys spending time with her two cats, Otis and Monte, catching up with friends and family, or relaxing with a good book.
When you visit Deception Bay Vets, you’ll quickly notice Holly’s warm and radiant personality throughout the clinic. She loves meeting clients and their fur babies, and her enthusiasm is truly contagious!

Jen
Veterinary Nurse
Jeniffer is a fully qualified veterinary nurse with a bachelor’s degree in animal science with over 8 years of experience in the industry, with a special interest in internal medicine and emergency nursing.
She is passionate about wellness, nutrition, and preventative health, and is dedicated to helping pets live happy, healthy lives through compassionate, high-quality care.
In her spare time Jen likes to go for walks along the waterfront with her family and dogs or relax at home with her cats.

Jessica
Receptionist/Veterinary Nurse
Jessica is our Diploma qualified veterinary nurse and receptionists extraordinaire. Jessica has been in the industry for over 10 years and has done lots of extra study in many areas of nursing such as radiology, endocrinology, and nutrition.
Jessica has a special interest in feline medicine and behaviour and is our in clinic cat whisperer. She hopes in the future when family life settles down to further her studies in feline behaviour and medicine.
When not at the clinic Jessica has a busy life at home with her son, 2 cats and 2 dogs.
She always has social engagements with friends and family, and loves a good nap when she gets the chance.

Ana
Receptionist & Marketing
Ana is our ever-smiling receptionist, who will always greet you with a radiant smile at the door. After completing high school at QACI and getting her IB Diploma in 2023, Ana embraced her love of learning and adventure. She spent her gap year in Europe travelling, then started her studies at QUT and is currently in her second year of study.
As an animal lover at heart, Ana would cuddle every animal that comes through the door. In her free time, she loves hiking, socialising, and spending time with her cat Maza (meaning “Cuddles” in Serbian).

Holly Rose
Veterinary Nurse Trainee
Holly Rose recently completed her Certificate III in Animal Care and is now beginning her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Having grown up surrounded by animals, she has always had a strong passion for animal care and wellbeing, leading her into the veterinary industry. Holly enjoys learning new skills in clinic, caring for patients, and helping even the most dramatic pets feel at ease.
Outside of work, Holly enjoys spending time with her pets, family and friends, listening to music, hiking, and travelling. She has two cats and a bird at home who all think they run the house, and she also loves fostering animals of all kinds-from tiny to “how is that even in my house?” size.

Matilda
Matilda is currently studying a Certificate III in Animal Care and has grown up surrounded by animals. She has a strong love for animal welfare and is keen to continue developing her skills in the veterinary industry.
Outside of the clinic, Matilda enjoys spending time with her pets and family, reading horror novels, hiking and travelling. She shares her home with a Border Collie Charlie, a retired Biosecurity Labrador Hewey, and Mozart the Ragdoll cat.
